Does cataract surgery also correct high prescriptions?

Most patients who are very nearsighted or farsighted prior to cataract surgery find that their need for distance correction is greatly reduced or completely eliminated.  The lens in which the cataract has formed is being replaced by a “prescription” artificial lens. This lens is permanent and does not “wear out” over time.
