A pioneer in LASIK and PRK and a leader in advanced cataract and corneal surgery, Dr. Spigelman helped develop laser vision correction and was among the first in the U.S. to perform DSAEK.
A leader, teacher, and innovator in refractive surgery
Dr. Spigelman is a leader, teacher and innovator in cataract and refractive surgery. He offers advanced cataract surgery and intraocular lens technology to his patients, many of whom have come from across the country for this procedure. He has taught other physicians and ophthalmology residents cataract and LASIK surgery throughout his career. He has also been a pioneer in LASIK and PRK surgery and was instrumental in developing this technology.
In addition to his residency, he had additional training in cataract, refractive and corneal surgery. This allows him to offer partial-thickness corneal transplantation, including DMEK and DSAEK; he was one of the first ophthalmologists to perform DSAEK in the USA. His publications include numerous articles on cataract surgery, intraocular lens implantation, and various laser vision correction techniques. He served as a principal investigator in FDA trials, including ReSTOR lens development.
