What is Dry Eye Syndrome?

Dry Eye FAQs

Can dry eyes cause blurry vision?

Yes. A stable tear film is essential for clear vision. When your eyes are dry, the surface becomes irregular and light scatters as it enters the eye, causing vision to fluctuate or blur — especially during reading, screen use, or driving. Vision often clears for a moment right after you blink, then blurs again.

Why do my eyes water if they are dry?

It sounds counterintuitive, but excessive tearing is a classic sign of dry eye. When the eye’s surface dries out and becomes irritated, it triggers a reflex that floods the eye with watery tears. These reflex tears lack the oil and mucus needed to coat the eye properly, so they simply run off rather than relieving the underlying dryness.
