Dr. Ryan Cosgrove is an accomplished ophthalmologist who manages a broad spectrum of ocular conditions, both medical and surgical. His surgical expertise includes procedures such as cataract surgery utilizing advanced technology intraocular lenses, as well as laser vision correction and eyelid surgery.
Dr. Cosgrove graduated magna cum laude from Albion College with a degree in biology, and he subsequently obtained his medical degree at Michigan State University. He then completed his ophthalmology residency through the Ascension Health—Michigan State University program. During this time he provided primary call coverage for a number of local hospitals, including a Level I trauma center in Detroit.
In his final year of residency training, Dr. Cosgrove was honored with selection to serve as co-chief resident. He also received recognition for his outstanding performance on the national Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program — his performance was in the top 5% of all residents in the country.
He has a passion for education and has completed extensive research with other leading industry experts, authoring multiple publications on topics related to LASIK, glaucoma, and neuro-ophthalmology. Dr. Cosgrove also takes great pride in being an advocate for medical missions and has personally supported missions providing medical care in Africa. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology.
